7.30PM May 31

Contact Theatre

Don’t miss your chance to see my debut performance post Arts Council funding- live next week at Contact Theatre with Gareth Cutter and Krissi Murisol.

As Word of Warning say:

Three artists, three performances, three takes on singledom, absence and the onset of the thirties. An emerging programme full of surprises and an insight into performance that defies definition.

October 2011 saw an extraordinary coming together of over 30 artists in a day-‘maze of performance’:emergency accommodation. Two whole buildings resonated with small exchanges, moving installations and intriguing conversations, punctuated by naked encounters and full-blown performances. Recapturing that spirit of adventure, Works Ahead invites a group of the most intriguing emergency accommodation artists to develop and present their work in a takeover of Contact Space 1.

Yes, very good news: the Arts Council England are funding the first stage of development for my solo show, which is programmed at The Lowry next year. Work begins next month, expect lots more about that soon. In the meantime you may just want to save the 4 May and the 31 May respectively.

7.30pm 31st May 2012
Word of Warning, Contact, £5

In time for my performance ‘Live Letter’, I took some photos. It was chucking it down, a really shitty Manchester day with bad lighting- the perfect backdrop! So me, my wonky tripod and pink camera hung out by the derelict pub in front of my flat and shot some pics. Here’s an exclusive preview!

More details about the show here

Allerton Studios, Salford University

I am making a new experimental performance, which I will be videoing as it is at an unsociable hour.

The challenge is to make a new performance based on an orange. I like the juicy, stingy and squirty properties of fruit.

This is my influence:

Performing with the mighty, mad Eggs Collective. Should be a raunchy, raucous pre-Valentine’s do.

I am performing in this new piece of theatre with Small Things, which I think will be quite magical! Details below.

In the year 2000 artist Joash Woodrow left his home in Leeds for the final time to move to a new life in sheltered housing in North Manchester. Having lived as a recluse for almost 40 years few people could believe what was discovered when the contents of the house were finally revealed. Despite his apparent seclusion Joash had painted and drawn throughout his life filling, the rooms of the normal suburban semi with over 700 paintings, 3000 drawings and hundreds and hundred of books.

Join Small Things to discover an extraordinary story inspired by one man’s unstoppable drive to create and the equally unstoppable support of his family that made his artistic life a reality.

A story of amazing discoveries, journeys that last over the years and brothers quietly growing old together.

September – December 2011

I am project managing Word Up, a series of performance poetry workshops for young people in Wythenshawe which will end in a performance and publication of their poems. It’s my first experience of management and I’m really enjoying working behind the scenes, so much so I’ve invested in a pair of fifties reading glasses, step into the office baby!
